Dr. Maria Chadam
Veterinarian / Board Member
Dr. Maria Chadam earned her DVM from Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1998. She brings years of experience and incomparable compassion for animals to her veterinary practice and the field at large. Maria spent several years in small animal medicine and owns a mobile veterinary service.
Her primary interest, however, is sea turtle medicine. She is well-respected by her peers and noted for her use of surgical techniques in the treatment of fibropapilloma tumors. Her enthusiasm and knowledge have made her a valuable mentor for veterinary residents interested in pursuing sea turtle medicine.
In addition to her traveling practice, Dr. Chadam is the current veterinarian for educational turtles in southern Florida. In her own words; "I'm proud to have made a difference in the sea turtle community over the past decade. I hope to continue mentoring and sharing techniques, both locally and worldwide, as we are a unique conservation group helping a very important species. I could not have a better, more experienced group of young women to spearhead this conservation effort."
