Emily Mercier

Co-Founder / Director of Conservation

With a degree in Environmental Science from the University of Michigan, Emily Mercier has dedicated eight years to marine conservation, including habitat restoration projects in Detroit and the Humbug Marsh Wildlife Refuge, but it was her passion for sea turtles that led her to Florida, where she has focused on marine conservation, specializing in sea turtle nesting and rehabilitation.

Emily became a Sea Turtle Rehabilitation Technician and, later, an Assistant Coordinator at a rehabilitation facility in Southeast Florida. Emily made an important contribution to marine conservation when she gained recognition for a powerful viral image: plastics discovered in the body of a deceased sea turtle hatchling. This heartbreaking yet compelling image catalyzed a significant conservation initiative.

Through her work, Emily has become an advocate for clean and sustainable practices, aiming to mitigate the impact of human pollutants on marine life.
