Hatchlings

Rescue

Diagnose

Diagnose

Hatchlings found disoriented or injured on nearby beaches are brought to our hospital for care. Biologists monitoring local nests also rescue hatchlings that are too weak to make the journey from the nest to the ocean.

Each hatchling admitted to the hospital undergoes a full exam and a swim test before being placed into one of our designated hatchling hospital tanks.

Care

Offshore Release

Offshore Release

Hatchlings receive nutritional support, physical therapy, and topical treatments for any injuries sustained.

Offshore Release

Offshore Release

Offshore Release

Our hospital admits more than 1,000 hatchlings on average each summer and fall during hatching season. When ready for release, hatchlings are taken offshore by boat into the Gulf Stream, where staff place them into suitable habitat near floating mats of Sargassum seaweed.

Hatchlings are Adoptable!
